Sid Rice, lifetime resident, born in Pinellas County, Florida, is a Gulf Beaches personality, restauranteur, professional worldwide big game fisherman, fishing guide and yacht salesman for the past 50 years.

Locally, for the past 28 years, Sid has been known as “King Gator” through his association with the University of Florida Gator football program. He designed, developed, expanded and promoted Gators Café & Saloon, located in Treasure Island, Florida, long before Steve Spurrier gave Sid his trademark nickname and elevated Gators Café & Saloon as a favorite gathering place of Coach Spurrier and the Gator Nation in Pinellas County.

The Rice family was well established in the local restaurant and seafood industry, beginning in the 1950s, which gave Sid his springboard to opening his own restaurants throughout the beach communities.

Sid’s fifty years of food service and public contact has provided him with an expertise in public speaking at many community-oriented events, private functions and charitable events as well as in his own Gator Watch Parties held locally every fall during college football season.

His professional fishing experience allowed him to become the founder of the Suncoast Kingfish Classic held over the past 27 years in Pinellas County, Florida, which is the longest running kingfish tournament on the west coast. Sid has also created numerous fishing tournaments and special events in and around the Gulf Beaches and has earned a fine reputation as a popular personality not only as a public speaker but as a fishing tournament organizer, weighmaster and top Gator supporter. His specialties are motivational/public speaking, Master of Ceremonies and Professional Auctioneer.

Sid is available, upon request, to host any special event that you may have.
